In the past few years, my main focus from a business standpoint has been portrait photography. This Spring, however, has given me a not-so-gentle push, as it has many of us, to jump head first into something new.
I figured there was. no time like the present to take this unexpected twist and use my love of photography in new ways, both by creating new work, as well as sharing some previously created pieces.
Photography has always been my way of better seeing and appreciating all of life’s randomness, order, paradox and loveliness.I think of each of my photographs kind of like a tree in the forest that would never have been heard without me. Or at least not heard in the same way.
Given photography’s instantaneous nature, there are no do overs. While some of my images are carefully planned out ahead of time, once I start clicking the shutter, I can only rely on quick reaction without thinking about why I’m seeing or framing something a certain way.
This yin and yang nature of photography suits me. Besides, things never go exactly as planned! I enjoy how once I start shooting it frees me to create my images without too much analysis. There is time for the overthinking side of me to take over later. Having a husband who pulls over the car in the middle of nowhere whenever I ask, doesn’t hurt!
