Each chirp of a June bug, flashy flutter of a firefly, or whiff of honeysuckle brings it all back. How it felt when my foot touched the last step as I exited school for the last time until September. Summer spread out before me full of endless possibilities.
Even though I really hate the heat, I still like summer. Kind of, anyway. After all, I got to relive all that summer stuff with my own children. Jars with holes poked in them. Ice pops. Pools and beaches, and Disney princess beach towels. And so so much sunscreen.
My daughters who have now flown the coop. Because the secret of parenting is that we aren’t raising children, we are raising adults.
Even though I learned this secret a while ago, it doesn’t mean I don’t miss them! A lot.
So far this July, I’ve had all the parents out there on my mind. I love voyeuristically following a few mothers on Instagram. The ones with younger children who seem to spend most of their time doing laundry and driving in circles. The ones with older children who don’t post photos of their kids except on special occasions.
Particularly right now I’ve been thinking about all the moms with children who are getting ready to leave. Leave for college, jobs, semesters abroad. Those who have children who are about to be seniors in high school. Who are wondering what the heck happened to the past dozen or so years.
So all that is my very long way of saying. I’M GIVING AWAY SEVERAL COMPLIMENTARY SHOOTS of your older “children.”Any “child” from rising senior to somewhere in young adulthood, who happens to be with you this summer.
The only “catch” is that much like you, I’m sure, I have limited time slots available in coming weeks. But I’m sure we can work something out!
And you can best believe YOU can be photographed along with them too! I won’t make you, but we’ll talk about it. (For only the cost of your hair/makeup artist – a great deal before my session prices go up.)
Please get in touch ASAP using the Contact tab above. And feel free to share with someone you love who fits the bill!
And to everyone, I hope you are having a wonderful, memorable summer with your favorite people. Enjoy every little moment! And don’t forget to take lots of photos – now and whenever you can!
